Padlet!

Christmas is coming!

I love Christmas time, so it was just a matter of time that I wrote an entry about it.

As there are many resources online for learning about Christmas, what was better than gathering them all in just one place?

That is why, with https://es.padlet.com , I have created my own wall and put in it everything I wanted. I have filled my wall with the Christmas story, worksheets, carols, crafts, coloring pages, games, flashcards... all related to Christmas, so students can learn a lot about it.

Have a look!

You can have a full view of it here:  http://es.padlet.com/pilarmesgr/myawesomechristmaswall

What do you think? Do you like the opportunities these online resources offer us?

Bingo!

Learning by playing

Another great way of learning, is by playing. Children will not even realize they are doing hard work, but the truth is that they actually are.

I am not all in favor of promoting competition, but a little bit of healthy rivalry now and then can make our students to get more involved in their learning process even without noticing.

So, with this objective in mind I have created a Bingo game so my students will learn the clothes. Thanks to http://www.dltk-cards.com/bingo/ you can create and customize different bingo games of different sizes and themes. It is really easy!

Here I have attached two of the bingo cards I have created:

With these activities we make sure students enjoy at the same time that they are learning, so... what else could we ask for?

Practicing our writing skills

The colors!

We have said several times now that learning has to be appealing, but this does not mean that it is all going to be fun and games. Our children also need to know how to write in English. So, thanks to www.worksheetworks.com/ I have created the following worksheet for our kids to practice:

The greatest thing about these worksheets is that they enable you to create the exercise with the exact vocabulary you want or need, thus making the learning process of the student much more personalized and efficient.

This sheet would be oriented to kids of 6 years old aproximately, and it would be appropiated if it is used when students have no doubts about the colors and how they are pronounced. This way there will not be spelling mistakes later.

I encourage you to create your own worksheets! You will see how amazing children will think they are if they are customized!!!

Prezi!

How to do original presentations for our students?!

I have found a new way of creating presentations! With www.prezi.com you can create dynamic, active presentations which will keep your students attention thanks to its unusual characteristics.

I am posting here the one I have created for my kids to help them learn some vocabulary related to the animals. Depending on the level of the students the learning can be deeper or more superficial, but they will always find it interesting and fun, as it has not only the required vocabulary, but also pictures and youtube videos with songs.

Here it is:

My 'very useful, of everyday use' webmix

I am going to start the blog showing you my secret weapon: my webmix created with www.symbaloo.com, where I have collected most of the pages I use to get materials to prepare my classes. I have gathered in it youtube lists of children's songs, webs for creating your own material, already created materials, and many webs organized according the skills we want to develop in our students!

The webmix is very useful because you can have in just one page, all the webs you need or want!

Have a look at it!

LET'S GET STARTED!

WELCOME!!

My name is Pilar and I am a primary teacher. I love children, so being a teacher is my passion. My other passion is the English language, so I thought I could mix them and become an English teacher...And that is exactly what I did!

As I love my job very much I thought I could create this blog so I could share some of the fantastic resources the Internet offers us as teachers in order for us to teach our children well.

It has always been said that the best time for learning a language is when we are children, so this blog is destined to non native English children and their families or teachers.

BUT REMEMBER! Learning is fun! So in this blog there will only be fun, inspiring and exciting activities so that the kids will learn without even realizing, leading this to them becoming little english geniuses.

Now, get ready to enter a world were learning and fun are holding hands!
